Navigating Nashville: Part 1

In the past few weeks I have had the opportunity to go to Nashville not just once, but twice! Each time I’m there I’m always discovering something new and wanted to share with y’all some touristy places and local places that I have fallen in love with. Enjoy!

In case you haven’t heard, the Nashville Predators played in the Stanley Cup finals this Summer (still hurting over that loss but so proud of how far they made it!). They weren’t playing when we were there but I have been to a game and plan to go to many more! Go Preds!

The Country Music Hall of Fame is right across from Bridgestone Arena and when we saw the Shania Twain exhibit we knew we had to go see it for ourselves. With three floors, there is something for every country music fan to discover!

A trip down Broadway (that live music though!) and a picture on the bridge with the skyline is a must! 🙂

Eating like locals! This was the first of many local eateries that we went to- The Grilled Cheeserie!

MURALS! There were many more to come but these were our first ones to spot! Still thankful to Jackie for knowing where these were!

Is it even the Fourth of July without some baseball and fireworks?

One of my favorite spots in Nashville- The Parthenon!

Brunch at the Frothy Monkey and eating at Five Daughter’s Bakery is a MUST!

As you can see, Nashville did not disappoint! I hope you enjoyed this post and that it encourages you to visit one of the most wonderful cities in the world! Stay tuned for Part 2!

This Little Light of Mine

There’s just something about the songs we sang in church when were little isn’t there? These songs were so catchy and I for one know that the older I have gotten that what I thought were simple songs actually have a deeper meaning.

One of those songs of course would be “This Little Light of Mine.” Somewhere between having the opportunity to teach this song to dozens of giggling preschoolers whose favorite part was yelling out “No!” after hiding it under a bushel and reading today’s passage, the Lord has proven that with simple childlike faith, He will reveal the areas in my life that need light shed on it.

Matthew 5:14-15 says,

14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.

“This Little Light of Mine“- Isn’t it amazing that the light that is mentioned in these verses is not given to us by the world but by the Almighty Creator of it? And what is given by Him the world can’t take away. He promises to supply us with our every need and the more that we seek Him the more we look like Him. In doing this, we begin to look different from this dark world that desperately needs His light.

“I’m going to let it shine.”- It’s our choice whether or not to let our light shine. In some cases, it’s easier to do so than in others but it’s important to always strive to be a light wherever God places us. You never know who is watching and who needs the hope that you have!

“Hide it under a bushel?”-  The enemy has many strategies: fear, distraction, and confusion are just a few. He would like nothing more than to hide that light from others so when those moments arise pray through them and don’t get discouraged!

“No!”– Oh, the favorite part of the song! A chance for a child to yell out in the sanctuary and not get in trouble for it ;). But it’s so important to stand firm and refuse to back down on what we know is the truth.

By doing all these things our light will shine bright and only God knows how many lives will be touched through it. 🙂
